Hello friends of Bold & Determined.
Long time readers and new readers alike will all know that here at B&D we are big on strength, weight training and muscular development.
Recently a study came out that confirms what I can already see with my own eyeballs: men with upper body strength are less likely to support wealth redistribution and men without upper body strength tend to favor the nanny state.
Professor Michael Petersen said: ‘In all three countries, physically strong males consistently pursued the self-interested position on redistribution.
‘However physically weak males were more reluctant to assert their self-interest – just as if disputes over national policies were a matter of direct physical confrontation between individuals.
Obviously I don’t truly care what the study says because I already know weak bodies tend to have weak minds.
I know it’s true because I used to be a skinny twig and I used to self-identify as a liberal. When I started getting strong and started making more money I changed almost instantly and started to despise liberal nancy boys for what they are, Rats.
You see, friends, working out with weights and building a body will give you one very important thing: confidence.
It will give you confidence for two reasons. 1) You will know what you can achieve and overcome when you put your mind to it and 2) People will stare and give you compliments daily.
Weight training and bodybuilding can teach you how to overcome obstacles, how to achieve goals and how to push past your pain barrier. The gym can help you become more successful in life, in every way that matters.
When you are physically strong people treat you better, they smile for you more and they rush to do things for you. When you are a weakling you get spit on and that’s why you like and identify with the nanny state so much, because you don’t have to do anything for yourself and you are provided for.
But being provided for is for women and high estrogen males only. Men take, do and build. Men do not rely on others to be taken care of.
I was combing through some old photos the other day and what I found shocked me. I found some shirtless pictures of myself. If I had to use one word to describe those pictures, that one word would be “yuck”. I looked like 160 lbs of estrogen from years of eating macaroni and cheese instead of steak and drinking coca cola instead of water.
I hear this word “genetics” thrown around all the time as an excuse to be a slob. “If only I had good genetics boo-hoo”. Friends, “genetics” is an excuse to be a non-achiever.
Genetics don’t mean anything. The estrogenic food you eat and the lack of activity is what makes your “genetics” bad. Anyone on earth can build a body but the longer you put it off the longer it will take to achieve.
It starts with four things.
- Yes, I will go to the gym minimum 3 days per week from now on.
- Yes, I will put in the hard work.
- Yes, I will eat better.
- No, I will never mumble another excuse for as long as I live.
Now I want you to walk to the mirror, take your shirt off and snap a picture. In a year or two or five or ten I want you to look back at that picture and laugh at how disgusting you used to look.
I always get a lot of flack on the internet from high estrogen males who like to tell me muscles are fake, it’s not functional strength, girls don’t like muscles blah blah.
They will say anything to make themselves appear better, but they won’t actually do anything to improve. They will tell you degeneracy is normal and the best.
But I know the truth and you know the truth. Life is better as a strong man, in every way. Girls smile at you so much more, you have better posture, you have knowledge in your strength, and you have pride.
Rodney Dangerfield got no respect because he was fat. If he looked like Superman it would be a different story.
Do yourself a big favor, go and buy a gym membership.
Buy some iron for the garage.
Do some pushups.
But for God’s sake, don’t look like a slob for even one second longer.
-Victor Pride

The hardwork is not working out, the hardwork is living life like garbage.
Then work smart.
Working out has taught me things nothing else could. I’ve learnt discipline, I’ve learnt self-respect, but most importantly, I now know I’m capable of anything.
100%
Really great thoughts. Kinda explains why males nowadays are weak and scrawny little bastards.
Pretty much. It’s great for me though, I’m not in insanely good shape but I’ve got broad shoulders and well defined and abs and pecs so I stand out from the crowd positively. I don’t consider myself that strong and I’m still stronger than most men I meet, which says more about them than it does me.
What a change! And hell yeah, neglecting your body is neglecting your LIFE.
By the way, are these the first pictures where you show your face?
Its a brave and wise decision. What made you decide to do so?
I showed my face for the first year, then became paranoid, but I have decided it’s my job as a motivator to show everyone who that I am a real person. Not a pretender, not a keyboard alpha dog and not a bullshitter.
Fucking respectable.
Thanks Vic, great post.
I had to finish my dimethazine cycle yesterday as lethargy was overhelming,
quit after 13 days on 15mg, i´m now without PCT, do you think it will be a problem?
Would be very tahnkful for your opinion, as i don´t want to mess up with my T-Levels, and want to keep them high.
regards from the Reich!
Co, I have heard from many people they get crazy lethargy from it. Myself I felt great. IronMagLabs offers some good PCT products to keep your natty levels in check, I’m not sure what they’re called but they are labeled PCT or Test boosters.
well i´m in Germany, getting that PCT here would last at least 7 days.
I´ll go with my Drug Store of confidence and get some clomifen, if gyno or smth. comes up.
But i can not imagine that i got shut down after 13 days just on 15mg, my balls are as big as always.
Glad you felt good on it, but for me it was “lethargyhell”.
Will get some Provigil (original Modafinil) from the drugstore and my daily piracetam, and feel like god again!
Grüße aus Deutschland!
Damn you were skinny just like I was Vic. Hard work pays off.
Meanwhile hundreds of losers are on forums, youtube and whatever else bitching about genetics and how they can’t make any gains.
I’m off to the gym to squat my ass off, peace!
Right on brother. I neglected to mention in the article, I had already gained 20 lbs in those pics. I was 20 lbs skinnier before that.
Haha awesome. Taking pictures every now and then Is extremely useful for motivation. After reading this article I went to the mirror and compared myself to a two month old photo I had of me, shirtless. The difference was amazing. In the first photo I looked like I was on the skinny end of being fat, in the second photo I looked like I was on the fat end of being fit. In that picture from just 2 months ago I look nasty, The funniest thing about it is I weigh about 5 to 7 pounds more now then I did in that photo.
So I’m apparently gaining muscle and loosing fat at the same time, which is funny because I am eating big and trying to bulk right now. Your blog is one of the most useful sources I have found for information and motivation. Just reading one or two of your articles gets me fired up about the day.
Excellent work, brother.
man you look good!! (no homo of course) and its great to see your face because at least now i know you arent an ugly man always claiming to be handsome. anyway! whats your opinion on chest shaving. i do it and always will but it would hurt to know how i am portraying my self
My friend, this is not bb.com, no homo is unnecessary to say. As for shaving chest, it’s a MUST for me. When I start to look like a fatso I get down and out a little bit, I shave my chest and my stomach and I look good again. It’s amazing how good you look with no hair a little muscle tone. The hair makes you look worse than you are, you can’t clearly see what you’ve got when hair is there.
Vic,
nice pics tearing that shit up…love it!..unfortunately for me at the soon to be 50 on may 30th i just found out i have a herniated disk in my neck…what the fuck!!! i had 3 epedoral shots and still have slight pain and tingling down the right arm into the fingers…this sucks because it leaves me hopeless in trying to keep in shape..any advice would help…My last resort is surgery but dude that is 4-6 weeks lay up…bills to pay and this just sucks my ass…but love what you bring vic..i pass all this information down to my football team..Im a high school coach.
PK,
I can’t give any medical advice, but what you need to be is inspiration for your team. Do what you gotta do, rest and recover and then get to work. 50 doesn’t mean anything. I have a good friend 48 years old, spent his entire 30’s in bed, now he’s a damn beast.
Hi Victor,
thumbs up for all the inspiration that you deliver to men.
I got a PhD in muscle biology, but still your posting are highly educational to me. And most of all, you really do a fantastic job as a motivator, I made it a habit to read one of your posting before hitting the gym!
As I am not the youngest anymore, I’d be interested to know your age…Will you share that info?
Cheers from Europe
Hello STS, I typically judge my work by how amped up I am when I hit publish. The greatest ones, the ones of which I’m most proud, I have to fly out the door and hit the gym after I hit publish. In regarding my age, well, I’m older than I look. I have a birthday coming up so maybe I’ll do a posting and let the info slip.
@PK, I’m no doctor, but if I were you, I’d look for an MD or chiro who does non-surgical spinal decompression. They use a machine where you are strapped in and it applies a pull, sorta like a torture rack. It doesn’t hurt, and can often provide significant relief within a few treatments, although many weeks of treatment are usually needed to get permanent results. I would look at surgery as a very last resort. Epidurals are only good for temporary pain relief. They don’t cure.
Of course, in the mean time, you have to avoid any lifting that can cause compression, and that means more than not standing on your head. Deadlifting, squatting, shoulder shrugs can compress the neck, not just the lower back. Also, once healed, you may have to go lighter on these movements. Once the abnormal pathway has been opened, the tissue has a tendency to more easily slip out again the same way. You have to listen to your body.
If the seven day backpain cure is right, your herniated disk is probably caused by muscle imbalance and may be cprrectable. Unfortunately, that book is just a big pile of copy meant to sell a product that supposedly tells you which exercises and stretches to focus on for whatever problem.
I have seen posture correcting exercises, like door stretches for your chest. Apparently tight pecs pull your neck forward. It might be something to research, if surgery can be held off for a bit. Just make sure your doc gives the ok for any corrective exercises, if they exist.
God damn it, I just love this guy! I´m so fed up with political correctness, I mean, life is so short so why waste it on bogus like beeing or listening to PC BS? I agree with Victor, eat and train well, stand up for yourself, don¨t let jerks (or anyone) dominate you, support people that really do ALL they can to improve and do good whatever level they are at.
Right on brother.
Great post. I’m headed to the gym right now. As a Firefighter/Paramedic I see the results of poor lifestyle choices everyday. Having a strong body and back is essential for extricating 300 pound plus people during medical emergencies. Thanks.
George, you must be as strong as a damn crane by now.
You forgot #5:
Steroids.
I like your blog, but when it comes to your physique, you have said it yourself; to get jacked, you took anabolics.
“It starts with 4 things” is what I said, bub. And you don’t start with anabolics.
Victor,
This is the reason you should stop talking about preanabolics and all that other third party bullshit. I know that you wouldn’t attribute 5% of your gains to any prohormones, but you are giving little bitches the ammunition to come on here and say, “Oh, of course you look swole; of course you look like a physical 1%er…it’s obviously because you take something.” These people will always find an excuse to back down. You have already stated that. This is my only bone to pick with you, because I know what it took for you to get in the condition you are in- it comes from training when every fiber in your body is telling you not to; it is that extra forced rep when the burn was excruciating ten reps ago; it is the need of the constant reminders to yourself that you prefer the taste of victory over the taste carb-filled transient treats. Take away their excuse that you achieved what you have through a third party so that they are only left with the excuse that is staring back at them in the mirror; what they knew was to blame all along, their own cowardice and weakness.
Cheers,
Chris G.
Chris, what is it the twerps always say? “Meh”. Fuck ’em, I don’t care what they think and I won’t be changing anything. Like you said, they’ll always be looking for something to blame, some excuse to prove that loserdom is not their fault.
Victor,
Got any tips on how to increase appetite? On a typical day I eat about 1700 calories…Yes I know that is what a five year old girl eats, but I struggle to eat more.I feel if I was bulked up,I would feel more manly,if you know what I mean.
Rob, are you lifting? Lifting should increase appetite.
Vic,
Couldn’t agree more with this post. Did you ever meet a stand-up guy that couldn’t do 20 push-ups??? I haven’t. There are a few exceptions, but let’s leave that for the silly and the ignorant. Like Henry Rollins says in ‘The Iron”, ” I have never met a truly strong person who didn’t have self-respect.” I don’t believe that people who possess self-respect are comfortable accepting,” hand-outs”, nor do I believe they would be in support of a system that perpetuates this practice.
Right on, brother.
And you would be wrong.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tMgToYs_oYc/S-7AERlVyCI/AAAAAAAAAM8/ASq-xs-9KYk/s1600/Wikipedia_AustralianAboriginals.jpg — these guys here? They possessed massive self-respect, and they perpetuated hand-outs to the weak and those unable to hunt.
Seriously, apply some deeper thinking to your beliefs. Which do you think is manlier, more noble, more strong:
1. Providing just for yourself
2. Providing for yourself, and for others who can’t provide for themselves
#2 sounds like it takes a lot more of all the virtues that seem to be valued here — except for selfishness.
I guess the reason I detract is because I reject society’s notions of inferior and superior. There are many people with different balances of strengths and weaknesses, don’t get me wrong on that. But society is healthier, and people are happier, when everyone is of equal worth — regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. If you’re so strong, and others are so weak, then help them out. Or aren’t you strong enough?
Congratulations Matt, you are the first goofball to comment in the last two articles. I am going to name you honorary B&D Goof of the Month, May 2013.
If you say you’re a motivator, then motivate me.
All I feel is that a good body should be achieved through necessity, not for respect. All I feel is that the strong should take care of the weak, not leave them to suffer. The examples and words I used were just for effect.
If you think I’m wrong in believing that, then explain why — you might enlighten me.
Matt, you’re a goofy goof and you also cannot interpret written words correctly.
“But being provided for is for women and high estrogen males only. Men take, do and build. Men do not rely on others to be taken care of.”
Necessity? The year is 2013 goofy goof and my readers don’t live like animals, like those Abo’s.
Actually, I do interpret your words correctly: Being provided for IS for women and high estrogen males only. So as men, let’s provide for them. Why? It doesn’t take a genius to know that women and high-estrogen dudes offer lots of great things that you benefit from (pussy, music, art…)
And apparently your readers “don’t live like animals”, yet:
They’re meant to train like an animal: https://boldanddetermined.com/2011/06/03/break-out-of-the-human-zoo/
And they’re meant to feel like an animal: https://boldanddetermined.com/category/feelin-like-an-animal/
So why not fuckin live like an animal?
I guess this is just where we split ways. But it would help not to insult people who can offer you mind-expanding advice. After all, you look back at your old self with pity. You’ll probably look back at the way you are now with pity. You don’t have to agree, but it helps not to insult the people who keep your values in shape.
Matt, I like air conditioning and refrigeration. Not pity, young man, disgust. Come back when you have outgrown your liberal commie baloney, it’s not quite as mind-expanding as you think.
If you’re strong and you want to take care of the weak, do so…nothing is stopping you. Enabling a government to steal resources from the strong and redistribute them to those it deems deserving is an abominable concept on it’s face, even before the inevitable corruption creeps in. Your philosophy is for losers. Individualism will never take away your right to be charitable; collectivism forces corruption and arbitrary standards on everyone in the form of theft.
What?
You are looking at society as if it was a tribe – which it isn’t.
Matt,
I think that this post was referring to the U.S. in today’s day and age. Sure, I would go so far as to say that on some level the strong have a responsibility to provide for the weak. However, it should only be under one condition….that the people being provided for are one’s blood ties or close friends. Even then there are some exceptions. I don’t know about you, but I’m not down with getting taxed out the ass because some fat, lazy, broad wants to keep popping out kids because she’s on the public dole and gets more money from the state for every additional kid she has. Is it society’s duty to provide for this so called “weak” person, or are they just a scam artist pretending to be weak?? I didn’t have a chance to look up your link about the Australian Aboriginals, but just by looking at the title, it is probably about a group that stays pretty close-knit and provides for each other, whatever duty that may be. Probably something similiar to the American Indians. In that case, yes, then I can see the physically strong providing for the group, while the lessers still performing some type of duty to sustain the group as whole. But to compare that to the type of system that is in play in the US today is foolish and moronic. Did you know that almost half of the this country is on some type of public-aid, which is basically free money, and they dont pay .01CENT of Federal Income Tax. C’mon Man. U gotta see something wrong with that. How do these bottom-feederes benefit society.
The hell with them, I’m looking out for me and my own……I’m quite sure that the 47% on the “free ride” don’t give a sh*t about me or my family.
There’s a certain feeling of virute and pride that comes along with providing for yourself that cannot be replicated, i have had the luck to experience this feeling. By providing for others, you’re robbing them of the opporunity to experience achieving something on their own. You speak as if liberals ONLY help those who absolutely NEED welfare. What a lie. There are millions of people in this country abusing the welfare system.
And Victor Pride does provide for others, i remember him mentioning that he financially supports his girlfriend in exchange for her doing all the cooking and domestic work. Now to me, THAT is a fair exchange as opposed to some fat welfare slob recieving welfare checks that hard working citizens paid for.
Society is happier when everyone is of equal worth – yeah buddy except that everyone isn’t of equal worth. That’s the reality of the way the world works. It’s a fundamental natural law. If you don’t get it, just repeat the mantra until it gets through your socialist skull.
BTW Victor never said anything about voluntary charity or not providing for the weak. What he did talk about was his opposition to government imposed redistribution, and the kind of people that vote for it in the name of “justice”, but usually with ulterior motives.
What are you? Communist? If you really feel that way then give away all your money and property to all the homeless and lazy welfare sucking parasites and let them live in your home and take everything from you. Sacrifice yourself to society. I won’t waste my time pandering to shitheads!
Hi Victor,
I personally like this post the most because it motivated me to plan out my budget for my home gym. My face looks handsome, now I will dry my resources even more to truly install a handsome body. I came, I saw, I conquered.
-Mike
Excellent brother. I built my garage gym out of stuff I found on craigslist, didn’t cost more than a few hundred bucks, if that.
Hi Victor! Can you tell us more about your diet. Thanks
Diet is 90/10. 90% clean food, 10% junk.
what chest exercises can I do to that cut on top of the chest that connects the neck and the chest? I tried doing push ups with my feet up and nothing happened. I tried doing a lot of incline flies and dumbbell presses and I still can t get that line.Any suggestions?
Incline bench press to the neck.
Great blog. Thanks for sharing so much great information.
Regarding the upper chest centre-line, do you have any other suggestions? I’ve been doing incline bb presses to the neck for a while, along with incline db presses, and am still lacking in this area. It’s annoying because the rest of my body is pretty much exactly how I want it.
Thank you.
@CO
Where do you get your modafinil from here in Germany?
thanks a lot
how many meals a day do you eat nowadays to look like these pics? do you still only eat steak and eggs? what foods do you eat daily?
You asked me this question two or three posts back and I answered in detail. Did you forget?
Victor,
Good job! You forgot to mention that less people would want to fuck around with you.
Damn Vic I was wondering what happened after Christmas! Without you and BOS I would still be a 155 lb weak piece of shit. I went up farther to 173 and I can sense that 190 is just around the corner. I can sense that the gains are still coming because I’m only halfway in my quest. Props for the self-portrait I thought you would be a ghost forever and since I first started reading I just imagined you were the 21st century Arnold minus the maid-fucking and the sociopathness. You’re the only famous dude I listen to.
Sincerely, Sam
Excellent work, brother!
Just curious what was the time frame between those pictures?
7 years.
mate i gotta say, all the lessons one needs to make it in life, you can learn them from a dumbbell. 1) if someone else lifts it for you, they will get stronger, not you 2) if yuou cheat with lifting too heavy weights simply for ego boosts, you will have nothing show for it in time 3) at the gym you learn to cope with failure. day in day out, people lifting weights cope with failure and seek it out.they know too well, if youre not reaching failing point you achieved nothing. and alast one 4) always seek out your own weak spots and be hoenest about them. Arnie was fond of this rule and that guy has trophiess to show for his claims. keep posting youre brutal truth Victor and thanks for the hard work yu put into running this site.
HAHAHA. Be glad at least you started cut. I would be very happy with your before picture, at least you don’t have a fucking belly since 7 years old that you’ve been slowly chipping away.
Yo Vic,
I bought your two or so weeks back, and I just wanted to know when I should increase the weight (I’m following the 3 day beginner workout)?
And also do you think the 4 day or 3 day beginner workout is better?
R.
As a beginner go with 3 days and let your body tell you when you’re ready for 4 days. As a beginner, you should be adding weight pretty frequently as your strength increases.
Hey, great work. This makes me really glad I started lifting when I was a late teen. The physical and mental differences between me and other males really shows. Had a laugh at how the camera also got bigger on your current photo.
Thanks for the motivation.
Mid to late teens are the most perfect years to start, I was about 5 years late to the party.
I used to be a bigtime reader of your blog, since a couple years back. Still read it from time to time. If someone wants to win at life, you have the right advice.
But honestly I had to detract. I just think the notion of discipline and work ethic to be a fucking farce. If you really want something, you don’t need to beat yourself up and slap yourself with a whip — you just go for it. I also think that the whole bodybuilding thing is totally out of sync of primal manliness. Having a ripped body should be the result of necessity — as in, that body is there because it’s the thing that allows you to survive. But a bodybuilder’s body? It’s just the man version of a fashion barbie, maybe good for an ego boost or a chick to fuck.
As for the whole welfare thing, you believe in freedom, right? Figure this. Under the current system, it is literally impossible for everyone to be free. Someone has to lose. By being a winner, those people who lost have a terribe fucking life. Is that something that makes you happy? How about a world where every one of us is free, and not just the strongest/smartest.
Of course, we don’t live in some fantasy land, we live in shitty fucked up world. So your advice is great for someone’s personal life.
But think about the larger picture. Can’t we have a world where everyone is free? Where a powerful body is the result of a need for survival, and not some self-punishing ego-boosting ritual? Just something to consider. Look at bushmen: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tMgToYs_oYc/S-7AERlVyCI/AAAAAAAAAM8/ASq-xs-9KYk/s1600/Wikipedia_AustralianAboriginals.jpg — they got those bodies through survival alone. And guess what? They were basically COMMUNISTS. They’re about 1000x manlier than you, and they willfully gave equal amounts of their hunt to every person, no matter their strengths and weaknesses. The study isn’t so accurate.
Hey everybody! We’ve found the missing link!!
It’s eery how much Mr. Missing Link sounds likes the villains in Atlas Shrugged.
Vic, have you ever read Atlas Shrugged?
No, I’ve never read it but I am familiar with the story and your comment gave me a pretty good laugh.
I too laughed when I read Missing Link’s bleating. Laughed, or else I would cry at the thought that his kind outnumber us 5 to 1.
Missing Link’s fallacy is assuming that there is some finite amount of health or wealth out there. You here this a lot in the “Hate the Rich” camp. If someone else makes a million dollars, this thinking goes, that’s one less million for me. So fuck those rich people for hoarding up all the cash.
But modern markets don’t work that way. And neither does physical fitness…Bushmen notwithstanding.
Atlas is an important book. This ten minute video gives a good flavor of the book without giving away too much of the plot. Really dig your work man, keep it up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8PPUZms3aQ
One of the few cases where the book was greater than the movie(s?).
Damn commies spamming B&D. They are like a virus that never stops trying to break you down.
Love u and all your articles man!I am a teenager that has been lifting weights since February and now since may I have gained around 10 pounds.recently I read info about what carbs do to your body if you take a lot and in conjunction with your and other bodybuilding advice I only eat carbs after workouts.
Since I haven’t gained weights.I eat a ton of oatmeal with loads of organic half and half.I eat like 6 eggs (omega 6) and take omega 3 fish oil to balance it.and I eat a ton of carbs after my workout plus peanut butter and avocados still my weights is still the same.
should I eat carbs on non workout days two and is wheat flour good to eat on non workout days two ?many thanks
Victor have u used seo for marketing your blog?
Never.
Transcending through the layers of life looking like a bloated sheep is quite a pitiful shame.
Rising to the top of the mental, wolf-like food chain is quite a dedicated accomplishment.
Seems like you’ve come a long way from the herd, Vic.
Motivation seeps through your writings – this is truly the only way to get across to readers.
Keep it up, boss.
How old are u victor? And what do u think about bodyspace and bodybuilding.com?
bb.com is the worst website in the world to learn about bodybuilding, but it’s a great place to a) learn how to drink protein shakes 6 times per day and b) talk to a bunch of kids who think they are bodybuilders because they drink protein shakes.
Don’t forget that every article is nothing but a clever way to trick you into buying bs supplements. One time there was an article on the front page advising men to eat soy for more muscle gains! I bullshit you not. Since then I have never re-visited BB.com.
Way to kick ass. I’ve started getting to the gym and lifting weights regularly thanks to your site. I’m not looking to get huge, but I do want to be bigger than I am and have more muscle tone. Anyway, love your stuff man. Good job on showing your face, too! It can be scary, but then you realize you can handle any damn thing life throws at you so why not do it?
Like the guy up there in the comments, I try and read a few of your articles when I need a solid kick in the ass.
Victor do u take any multi vitamins? What about supplements for the joints since u lift weights?
Sorry I ain’t Vic but I do have a supplement recommendation for joints, and no I’m not affiliated in any way with Source Naturals. What I take is billed as “Hyaluronic Joint Complex with Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM”. It is not cheap and I suspect that at least half the things in it are non-functional, but it does make a difference and it gets my arthritic joints through the winters.
Victor at what age do u think a male should give up building muscle? Do u think this article can be applied to a guy over 60 who s old and over the hill? Or it only applies to young males below 50 years of age?
Mid teens is the best time to start when natural growth hormone levels are high, but any age is a good age to start.
What? are the best websites for learning more about nutrition and bodybuilding? I already read your entire blog and bought all your ebooks. Any suggestions?
In the future u should write an article on offshore banking and how to beat taxes like the rich…
Iis there a way that we can speak about business and u charge me through paypal for your services? I m very interested on getting out of the 9 to 5 and I have a possible business in the works so I wouldn t mind paying for your knowledge and time. Ty
Send me an email to discuss this.
I love it! So raw and true!! Get off your ass people
P.s to all of you who think that anabolics turn you into a fkn monster from day one then don’t you think everyone that more people would look like Victor? They don’t because they have stuffed up their training, their food and their will.
Anabolics don’t help you get off the couch
I’m a woman and I know that.
It’s been a while that I been on this site, but I have to say it’s one of the best out there. I appreciate no bullshit. Just about all training sites are full of shit, but not this one. I got the highest respect for you because of you brutal honesty.
Agree with just about everything you say. Plus, you are funny as hell. Nothing is better than getting great information about training and laughing your fucken head off. Great combination and an absolute on this site. High props from an old fucker like myself.
I’m fifty and I’m still working out. Although, I”m not a huge as I was in my 20, I”m still training 5x a week, focusing primarily on Olympic lifting and CrossFit. I train in a college town and nothing gives me pleasure than to kick the ass of those kids that are more than half my age. Here is my transformation story in Mark’s Daily Apple – http://www.marksdailyapple.com/free-at-50/#axzz2TqWPKW1x
Victor – keep up the honesty and motivation and of course, your training.
Jack
Jack, TY for the great compliment.
Hey Victor –
You are very welcome. I have the highest respect for you. Many people in this world are posers. You are the real thing.
A true bad ass.
Jack
Victor u look like Brad Pitt in the movie fight club in the last picture. Great pic…
Note that the quote from M. Petersen does not say that all physically strong men were opposed to redistribution of wealth; it says that they were likely to take the “self interested” position. This implies that strong men of low socioeconomic status did in fact favor handouts (for themselves). Case in point: Guys just out of the joint are usually jacked, penniless, and very much in favor of redistribution. They’ll even lend a hand with it, probably while you’re not at home.
Dock workers are usually buff too, and they’re all in favor of getting some redistribution. They may not break into your house, but their unions are just as extortionate as any mugger.
Come to think of it, pretty much everyone from the flabbiest welfare whore to the Governator is all about their own self interest whether they admit or not. There are some slack yuppie liberal types who claim to be sticking up for the poor, but when it comes down to it the “redistribution” these guys claim to want is always supposed to come out of someone else’s pockets. They themselves won’t even foot the price of a bottle of Mad Dog for the corner hobo. I know a guy with a $500,000 house and a six-figure income (which he can’t seem to live off of) who likes to snivel about the “rich” paying their “fair share”, but he thinks this would give him a tax break.
Victor,
I think you can definately do personal coaching with all these great people who are seeking your advice. Hell i would I pay for a session. Is this something that you have considered?
-redx1
Hi Red, yeah, I can do that. It’s $200 USD per hour. To be honest I don’t WANT to do it at all. I put way more into it than one hour and I come out in the negative. I can easily spend a whole day on research alone.
Victor, can you write an article for people who want to lift weights/get fit but always travel and can’t stick to one gym?
I sure can.
lzololzozlozlzoz hilarious dude
Lets talk about steroids for a minute…..and lay the bullshit to rest. I know plenty of anti-steroid people, who preach “natural” like its the fucking Gospel. Take for instance one female I know, the girl doesn’t do any caffeine at all, not even coffee in the morning. Yet, she drinks almost everyday. Glad your anti-caffeine, but what is bein g an alcoholic doing for you sweetie? I know another guy, he has never smoked a cigarette or drank alcohol before, he occasionally does these “body cleanses” which I dont even believe in, yet 80% of the time he is not on his A-game and eats garbage, he is thin because he is genetically a small individual. Paleo gurus, show me a paleo diet guru who doesn’t have about 4 cheat meals/wk instead of the disciplined bodybuilder who has 1, maybe 2 max? Show me a cross-fitter who eats only organic and looks any different than the rest of those emaciated looking bastards!!! What you are on the outside shows your insides, I’m a firm believer in that. Even steroids, if the guy is abusing them then his eye whites are yellow from taking too much anadrol, his face looks tired and old, his joints hurt him from too much winstrol, his gut is swollen from too much Growth hormone and insulin. But a guy who has great skin, big muscles, is vibrant and energized, has a fantastic sense of well being, and whatever else, thats a guy who is fucking healthy outside and inside, no two ways around it!!!!!!! Its a nice little wives tale to think we look great on the outside but are rotting and rusting on the inside, but its fucking bullshit!!! I’ve juiced since I was 19 yrs old, I’m 33 now and get my bloodwork done 4-5x/yr, I donate blood to Red Cross on a regular basis to keep my hemoglobin low and my blood thin. When you see my bloodwork and the numbers, I’m a perfect picture of health and fitness!!! So all of the anti-steroid, holier than thou retards, guess what? The fucking joke is on you, not us!!!
John Doe again with the killers perspective. Right on 100%.
Hey Vic
I just got your book body of a spartan and was blown away. The bad part is that i blew out my knee one month ago. Had to have an ACL and medial and lateral meniscus repaired. I’m 47. Any advice on how to start your workout regimen around a bad knee. I’m just now able to do wall squats with the knee.
Thanks!
Hey Glenn
I’m about your age and have been working around knee problems for several years. Maybe we could compare notes.
Because killin’ is just what I’m good at!!! Great physique Vic, keep it up!!
Thanks, Victor. As I sit here being a slave in my office job–I need $150,000 a year due to divorce theft–I am craving the free cookies that my firm provides in the kitchen. But I remember how I like having ripped abs better than I like eating donuts, “as a consequence I’m not a fatass,” and therefore I will not go eat any cookies. #winning
I got a question for you. Do you have that look without flexing & without having worked out? After a workout, or even if I do 30-40 pullups, or after working on the heavybag, I look great, but if I’ve just woken up in the morning, I look a lot flabbier. In fact, I have this question with every ripped guy I see (say, on TV or wherever)
The first pic you see of me jacked I was not pumped, the bottom pic with the “Body of a Spartan” logo on it was after a workout. You will ALWAYS looks better with a pump. When you see a ripped guy on tv they are for sure doing some light pumping work to get the blood into the muscles to make them bigger.
Lion, one thing you could use to look more pumped and volumized throughout the day is L-Arginine. I have been using an L-Arginine powder that is fruit punch flavored throughout the day, and I walk around with a pump and veins busting out pretty much 24/7 now. And I’m not a big supplement guru, but I must say this one is working for me
Victor when is the best time to do cardio to get ripped? What is the best cardio exercise to do?
I do zero cardio my friend. Only time I ever did cardio was for a week and a half to prepare for a tough mudder event.
Hey Victor, I have a couple quick questions. I’m building a gym in my apartment and the ceiling is to low to do an overhead press with any weights on the bar, any sugestions on substitutes? Doing them seated just seems like it could hurt the back and wouldn’t be as much of a compound exercise.
Also, has the Spartan Entrepreneur book been updated at all? Do you still use the same method as when you wrote the book?
Thanks for the site man, keep up the good work.
Kurt,
Do them seated. Improvise when you have to, no biggie. SE has not been updated. To see the method I personally use read the “So you want to be a pro blogger” series.
Amen. I did them seated for many years due to lack of ceiling height and also when I was on crutches. The only thing is that if you insist on lifting more weight than you can control, it’s harder to drop it when you flame out. Overhead press is not really a compound exercise anyway. Try jerking (no, not THAT) if you want it compounded.
Seated it is then, thanks for the help guys!
you can also do standing military pressess outside once in a while; You may have to jerk and clean the weight way up though; which can only be good for you
So how can I lose 15 pounds of fat without doing cardio just diet and weights?
Yeah.
So how do I have to eat to lose 15 pounds of fat without doing cardio and be lean like you?
How in the world can you prepare just for 1 week and a half for a tougn mudder event? Just 1 week and a half of cardio for that type of event ? Is that enough to get the cardiovascular system in shape?
I know that u don t follow movies like that but research the new movie titled wolverine coming out this summer. I read t.hat Hugh Jackman who plays wolverine followed the intermittent fasting diet and he got great results. However the article doesn t go into the name of the diet. Hey I figute that they can t patent it so they don t promote it. U can t sell it in a bottle so they stay shut.
That is just another word for Carb and protein cycling; I guess the last day for each cycle would involve semi-fasting or veggie juice diet, then back again, then repeat the cycle. intermitent therefore.
Chelo, you should get Vic’s e book “Body of a Spartan” He explains it all, and I went from 300 lbs of flab to 220 lbs of rock hard muscle in 16 wks, he really knows his stuff!!!
been following ur bog for a minute. u have mentioned Sd and Epi in previus posts. what other cycles have you ran . how many and how often. whats your weight ; cals and macros like.
thanks for keeping it real and great site.
Fantastic physique and blog, sir. I have one question. I have been lifting heavy and eating more for six months, been gaining in every part of my body, including my abdominals, where I’d like to have a more refined core (still got that skinny-fat gut). How do you get big while keeping lean abs? I’m still pretty small, so should I worry about getting bigger first and then getting lean after? If so, how do you keep the muscle gains in other areas while reducing food consumption?
Hi TG, if I were to start over I would work on building strength and gaining weight and then, after I felt I reached the desired level, I would diet down and carve the fat into stone. The only way you can grow lean, get bigger and keep sharp abs at the same time, is with hormones. If you’re natural, you get big and then diet down.
Thank you for the reply and advice. Was introduced to your blog by Danger and Play, and have been catching up on your past posts. Wish I was here when you released Spartan Entrepreneur.
TG, Are you Japanese or expat? I’ve only been to Japan for about an hour and a half at Narita but I’d like to visit one day.
An expat, been here for about a year and a half and have no plans on leaving any time soon. If you make it out of Narita and into the city, shoot me a mail.
Dude, do you take roids? coz in another post you said its unrealistic to get the body of zyzz or greg plitt without them and I reckon you have surpassed both of them.
I didn’t say it was unrealistic, that would imply it’s possible. What I said was it’s impossible to look like them without gear. You do the math. On this very website I have given my seal of approval for 3 LEGAL hormones: 1) testosterone (legal with a doctors scrip), 2) superdrol which is the most potent steroid on planet earth and is legal, and 3) epistane, which is also legal.
so do you mean that these LEGAL hormones count as ‘gear’ or not?
There is no limit as to how big you can get naturally. I agree that its easier to gain mass the first few years of lifting but I believe you can achieve far beyond what people percieve you can achieve naturally. And by naturally I mean without the use of these LEGAL hormones.
Im not having a go at you I just think people reckon naturals cant achieve success.
I ‘mire ur aesthetics by the way and if you dont mind could u give me ur arm measurement as a goal to set for myself? Thnx man
I can see your point, though I choose not to give myself labels, and there’s plenty of fat conservatives too. I don’t advocate the distribution of government handouts but the bailouts to the big banks were handouts too. No party, right or left is devoid of taking handouts.
Now, I agree with you on the idea that the higher your self-confidence is, the higher your concept of self-reliability goes and the more likely you are to try fix your situation yourself. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m broke as a joke. I’ve been working on this damn business for well near over a year and I finally got a legitimate break and was simultaneously let go from my job, (they said I spent too much time reading, which was true I read business books every chance I could get.) Now I have a month to get this business profitable and pay the rent or I’m homeless. Nothing like a back up against the wall type of deal to get you motivated eh. I made mention of this to some friends and all everyone could say was “Well, you can always crash on my couch.” Literally every one of my “friends” automatically assumes I’m going to fail. Only one dude said I would succeed. Since I began reading B&D my eyes have really opened to the amount of sheep there are in the world. No one thinks anyone is going to succeed or do anything great with their life. Now, I’m damn grateful to that one friends encouraging words, I will remember him. To the rest of them, I could care less what they think.
I know that in 30 days I will pay that rent, and much more to come. I know that this is the turning point.
Reading B&D every morning, gets me moving and ready to kick the world’s ass
Keep up the great work Vic.
This makes total sense, since liberals want something for nothing and a man who has built his body knows it takes hard work.
hey victor i have a serious bad problem which is making me soo depressed …it is my wide hip bones , my body isnt as normal as it is with other man , i have a feminine legs and walk with a bit big thighs and a skinny upper body…it is sooo annoying , how do you think i can fix this ? thx
You have high estrogen. You can’t fix your hip bones and you will certainly have big thighs and butt forever but you can help lower the estrogen with aromatase inhibitors like aromasin and arimidex. Go see a doc, get your bloodwork done, check your estrogen levels and I think you will find they are very high. The doc can prescribe the necessary ingredients. Good luck.
Do you shave your chest hair?
Hi Victor,
Can you show pictures of your current physique? The pictures were motivating I didn’t believe you are a real person. Now you look like a pro bodybuilder. Damn. I want more cool pics and landscapes brother.
Victor, You mentioned the tern functional strength. What is it and how does it relate to BOAS?
Where did I mention the term functional strength? Functional strength is what people without a physique pretend to have. If you’re strong, you’re strong. If you’re not, you’re not. There is no such thing as dysfunctional strength.
“I always get a lot of flack on the internet from high estrogen males who like to tell me muscles are fake, it’s not functional strength, girls don’t like muscles blah blah.”
You answered my question though. Thanks. I’ve heard this term used body-weight training enthusiasts, yet never understood what they meant. Thanks.
One more thing. What are the chances of getting injured/hurting the joints if I do Body of a Spartan?
Hey Vic great post! It got my body pumped and spirit fueled up with ambition!
I got a question, well more like two.
1) What was your breaking point (the time where you thought to yourself and say “Fuck this! I gotta do something with myself!”
2) Will it benefit anything other than being Bad-ass Billy?
I mean no disrespect if it came out wrong it just that I got rotten luck.
even on my good days I strike out!
Guys, anybody following the drill of the book ” The Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha Book ” by John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein? I am starting my journey to lose my belly fat at last. Anyone who has already tried their program and saw results? From what I have read already they seem to have similar approach with Victor, plus Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote their foreword (some nice social proof there). If someone does follows, I would be happy to hear comment on their exerceise and their dietary program too. Thanks comrades

Never tried it so can’t tell you about that program.
But my recommendation would Body of Spartan or Matt Marshall’s Classic Body Now. They both are two honest and simple programs that will help you get rid of unwanted fat and burn muscle. There are a lot of bad programs out there, but I know these programs are two of the few products out there that are the real deal.
Excellent article, keeping this bookmarked for sure. Just started working out a week ago, and a friend told me that if I don’t use a lot of supplements and shakes I won’t change all that much. HA! He obviously hasn’t heard of “Body of a Spartan”. Figure wise I am similar to how you were, and you didn’t use any of that bullshit to get where you are, and you are a damn man! I don’t think I can associate with those people anymore.
i like you guy. whats your height and weight? you’re beast. how long have you been lifting? i assume you’re natural?
Your latissimus dorsi are small, anyway, great work
Victor, I love your blog…but, I’ve noticed the opposite. I am strong and fit, and have a nice bank job, and am a liberal. I believe that everyone should work hard but not everyone has had the opportunities or good fortune that I have had (ie. loving parents, access to college, never having to starve). I feel like I’m here to help others. Most conservative dudes I know are soft and weak, living high off the fat of the land and on the backs of others.
Hey Vic,
Great article and straight to the point. I ended up on one of your articles on how to gain weight / get jacked and happened to click on this using google.
I like the whole emphasis on the Live Spartan idea in your other articles. Simplicity and hardwork were the staple of the spartans.
Quick question, when you were growing up, say 16-20, what were your views of working out and looking good? It’s cool reading about the changes of a man who turns out to live the life they really want.
Regards
Victor,
You’re misquoting the study some. The study didn’t say that physically strong men are against wealth redistribution and weak men are for it.
The study said that physically strong rich men are REALLY against wealth redistribution and physically strong poor men are REALLY for it (they strongly favor their own self-interest), whereas physically weak men of both income levels are more moderate.
Great post. I wil bbe facing some of these issues as well..
Victor,
great post! So far, I really admire your opinions and point of views, also the advice you give out, Ive saved some of my personal favorites to apply in my own life. If I had something to say about it, itd be only a minor thing, about the line in which you state that “being provided is for women”, as if there arent any females who work and have as much determination and attitude as you do. Because really, I could see myself and apply some of your advices to my own lifestyle, and I cant begin to imagine why you would insult all girls like that and delete from your mind the possibility of having females who agree with those things and work hard for what they want, such as me, and many more Im sure.
Not really complaining, just a high light about something that bothered me while reading this article. Otherwise, great words, I agree completely. I’ll keep reading your blog, since Im sure I can find more golden here to improve myself, thanks and congrats!
Hi Victor,
What’s your benefit experience of spirulina?
Love you Vic!
Wow great transformation Victor! Respect!
Good message in the article Vic. Training and building the body gives you unstoppable confidence.
Also amazing transformation.
I love this article Vic because it is absolutly true. The other day I got a similar statement from some fruitcake collegues that said what you said here “I always get a lot of flack on the internet from high estrogen males who like to tell me muscles are fake, it’s not functional strength, girls don’t like muscles blah blah.” Not exactly in those terms though. I told them that if they are correct in those statements then why do the students at our school respect me and think twice before saying something stupid to me and you guys get disrespected and ripped on daily?? The teacher criticising me all have pot bellies, skinny arms and their fat slob wives call all of the shots at their homes. I also use many of your articles on my male students that I counsel. Its sad to see our school here in New York pumping out sissified fruitcake males and mentally confused females. Pathetic.
